Who is the Man? Does it Matter?

The question of who the Anti-Christ is has intrigued a number of Christians in recent years. However, for some reason the subject is debated with ferocity. The idea of even wanting to consider who might be "The Man" is even made light of by some. One well known prophecy writer lists about thirty individuals previously considered to be the Anti-Christ as evidence that looking into the subject is a frivolous cause. After all, this person asserts, since we will not be around when the Anti-Christ comes on the scene, what does it matter to us.

Certainly, the many inaccurate assertions over the past years have caused prophecy students to be hesitant about any dogma on the subject less they also be considered "off the wall" with the other "False Prophets".

Personally, I have sought to really understand this contempt for the subject by so many of our spiritual leaders. It occurs to me that possibly, the real reason many folks like to avoid this subject is, life is very good for them and the idea of their pleasure on earth ending anytime soon is alarming. After all they quickly reply when confronted with the subject, "The Lord says we should occupy till He comes so I'll just leave that all up to him." I'm just going to keep busy with what the Lord has called me to do".

The reason I follow World events so fervently is, I want to determine "the times and seasons" as the scripture says in I Thessalonians 5:1

"But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you."

In this verse, The Word implies that we should know "the times and the seasons". I want to know what time it is in the course of history, how close we are to the Lord's return. We all know that no one knows "the Day nor the Hour" the "Rapture" occurs. However, I believe, determining the times and seasons should be our forte.

As I continue to research current events in light of God's written Will for humanity, I am amazed we are still here. Frankly, the urgency of the hour in light of scriptural teaching causes me to fear for these individuals that are not interested in tracking the Lord's return. Consider the following verses:

II Timothy 4:8 KJV

Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Hebrews 9:28b KJV

... and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

It seems to me the Lord is coming in the "Catching Away" for those who are looking for His coming. I may be wrong, but that's what these verses seem to say from my perspective.

I'm not suggesting here that these persons under consideration are not Christians. Rather, is it possible that some Christians will be left behind to go through the Great Tribulation because they are not looking for the "Blessed Hope" (Titus 2:13)? All I know is, I can hardly wait for His coming in the clouds. To me, finally, being face to face with the Lord Jesus is going to be the the climax of my life! O, how I long for that day!
