To Be Saved From The
Penalty Of Our Sins
In brief, the Bible gives us four verses that tell the entire story: John chapter 3, verse 16 & 17, KJV
Romans chapter 10, verses 9 & 10, KJV
God has made the provision for us to escape the deserved penalty for our sins. His son Jesus paid the price for us with His death. In human terms it's as though a judge on earth had sentenced us to the electric chair, but someone else loved us so much that they died in that chair in our place. The difference is, even though some earthly person might do that for us, no one but Jesus is capable of keeping us out of Hell. Since God has made this incredible provision for us to escape the just penalty of eternal suffering in Hell, He has demanded that we commit our lives to belief in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. He refers to this as being "saved" from the penalty of our sins. By committing our lives to Him in this way we are accepting His free gift of salvation. To reject that gift and become disobedient to God's requirement is to choose to go to Hell when we die. His written "Will" for our lives, The Old & New Testaments, The Bible, The Holy Scripture, further states that when we truly commit our lives to that belief, we become spiritually "reborn" and The Holy Spirit comes to indwell our lives. Literally, God's divine spirit then lives within us. This gives us the power to actually become sons and daughters of God. The death, burial and resurrection of Jesus was the most wonderful event of human history. God sent His son to die for you and me, persons who deserve, because of our sin, to be in hell. Because Jesus was God in human flesh, he did not remain dead, but was raised from the grave three days after his death. He was then seen by hundreds of people for a period of 40 days before being caught up into Heaven where he has been ever since. The Bible further teaches that He is soon coming back to take up to Heaven, "In the twinkling of an eye", those who are looking for His coming. There, we who have committed our lives to belief in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus, will live forever in that perfect environment where there will be no crying, no pain, no suffering, no wars, no starvation, no fighting, etc. and we will literally walk on streets of gold. Better yet, we will live forever with the one who loves us so much that He was willing to die for us the most hideous death a person could possibly experience, that of being nailed to and then left hanging on a cross of wood. The person who has accepted God's free gift of salvation is then, and only then, prepared to know God. They have experienced "the new birth". They are Christians. They are those who are spiritually "born again". However, the sad fact remains that many Christians do not grow up in their faith. They remain spiritual babies. The Bible refers to them as those who must be fed only milk because they are unable to eat "The Meat of His Written Word, or Will". They further do not seek God "with all their heart, soul and mind". Therefore, they never get to really know God. Is it not pitiful to see a person who physically is grown but who still acts like a child? We say, "How sad". How much greater a travesty it is when Christians remain as spiritual babies. Even worse, because some are so ignorant regarding God's written "Will", the Bible, they don't even realize they are babies. It is my concern for these persons that has caused me to develop this Web site. |
