An Incredible Travesty

God’s will, the Holy Bible, is made up of what is referred to as the Old and New Testaments. A testament is the legal written will of someone and you don’t read very far in either the Old or New Testament till it becomes abundantly clear whose will they are. The Old Testament begins with, "In the beginning God…….". The first verse of the New Testament reads, "The book of the generation of Jesus Christ". When you become familiar with the whole of the New Testament it is vividly clear that Jesus Christ came to earth literally as God in human form.

Yes, the Bible is virtually the will of God for mankind. God, our creator, the only one who really knows what makes us tic, has given us His will for our lives. Better yet, He supernaturally empowered His will to transform our lives into productive persons. His purpose for all of this was that we might live in harmony with Him and His creation.

In my opinion, the greatest travesty of all time was and is the rebellion of the human race against God’s Holy Will.

I never cease to be amazed at the absolute stupidity of so many people. We spend years preparing our lives for a career, to be well versed in some subject, to develop our golf swing, etc. But we won’t devote hardly any time to knowing the mind of God for our lives. The irony is, self-development which leaves out the will of God goes into the casket with our dead bodies. Development of our souls through the absorption of God’s will lasts forever.

Forever! Do you grasp the meaning of that word? Think of it; time which has no end! Live your life by society’s handbook and spend your forever in excruciating pain as you languish in a lake of fire fueled by one of the hottest burning materials known, that of sulfur. Or, live your life by the teachings of God’s will and spend forever in heaven, a paradise where even the streets are paved with gold.

Here is the question: what area of your life gets the most of your time, your body or your soul? Think of it this way; God’s will states that reading and heeding His will is synonymous with "eating" spiritual food to make your soul, which will live forever, healthy. Nourishing your body benefits only till we are in the casket. Does it not make sense that we spend at least as much time absorbing God’s written will as we do feeding our bodies? I believe with my life that it does, certainly God agrees and so should you. Right now determine, for your eternal health’s sake, to make this your habit. Daily, spend as much time reading and meditating on God’s will as you do eating. Then allow it’s truths to permeate your life. Here are just a few:

  1. Rejoice in the Lord always.
  2. In everything give thanks.
  3. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind and your neighbor as yourself.
  4. As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: …..
  5. For all flesh is like grass, and all the glory of man like the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and it’s flower falleth away.
But the will of the Lord endureth forever. And this is the word which by the Gospel (good news) is preached unto you.

May the Lord cause you to become joyfully obedient to this eternally significant teaching of His Will.
